Itaipu Binacional and Petrobras announced on Thursday, October 3, in Foz do Iguaçu (PR), their intention to formalize partnerships in the area of technological innovation. The general terms of the agreement were discussed by Petrobras President Magda Chambriard and the Brazilian General Director of Itaipu, Enio Verri.
The General Director of Itaipu emphasized that both companies have a strong tradition in technological innovation projects and are committed to building a fair energy transition, in line with the guidelines of the Federal Government.
“The focus of the meeting was to exchange information and understand the innovation projects being carried out by Petrobras and Itaipu. We realized that there is a lot of synergy between our efforts. A partnership will certainly be positive for the country and reinforces President Lula’s directive to position Brazil as a global leader in the energy transition,” stated Enio Verri.
The meeting was prompted by the presence of the Petrobras president in Foz do Iguaçu. Magda is participating in the meetings of the G20 Energy Transitions Working Group. On Wednesday, October 2, she visited Itaipu Parquetec, the technological arm of Itaipu Binacional. Magda Chambriard mentioned partnership opportunities between Parquetec and Cenpes, Petrobras’s research center in Rio de Janeiro.
“Petrobras and Itaipu are very relevant institutions in the energy landscape, recognized for their innovation, and they have highly qualified technical teams. The fact that they possess complementary skills enhances the partnership, especially in the context of the energy transition. We hope to establish a long-term relationship that will certainly bring benefits to both sides and contribute to Brazil’s advancement as a global leader in the transition,” said the president of Petrobras.
The details of the agreement will be discussed from now on by the technical teams of both companies.
