At the end of this Tuesday (1st), the head of the Mission Innovation secretariat, Eleanor Webster, highlighted the “incredible energy” that permeated the first day, highlighting the beauty of Foz do Iguaçu and the centrality of renewable energy in the city. Webster announced the launch of the “Inclusivity Catalyst”, a program focused on ensuring that inclusion is at the center of innovations and actions related to the energy transition, aiming to meet the specific needs of different regions.
“We also had an entire session on how innovation can help developing countries. In addition, we discussed how machine innovation can benefit these countries. Global platforms such as the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) play a critical role in supporting cross-country collaboration, including the scaling of private projects and inclusion,” she stated.
For the head of the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) secretariat, Jean François-Gagnè, the participants at the meeting are analyzing best practices for developing fair energy to benefit women, youth and underrepresented populations, with the aim of incorporating them into public policies. He also stressed the importance of involving and convincing communities to actively participate in the process.
“The significance of Foz do Iguaçu as a demonstration of prosperity through clean energy via Itaipu Binacional, co-managed by Paraguay and Brazil, makes it an ideal place for international collaboration. It is also an example of how public and private collaborations can provide value and accessibility, protecting the economic, social and environmental impacts of the clean energy transition,” added François-Gagnè.
