Mission Innovation spokesperson praises Itaipu’s energy integration

Giorgia Rambelli delivered a statement about the conclusions from the Mission Innovation’s meeting in Foz do Iguaçu (PR)

The Director of the Urban Transitions Mission, Giorgia Rambelli, praised Itaipu Binacional’s commitment to regional energy integration. On Thursday (October 3), she delivered a statement about some of the conclusions from the Mission Innovation (MI), which is holding its 9th meeting alongside the 15th Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) at the Mabu Hotel in Foz do Iguaçu (PR).

“I was very impressed, not only by the hydroelectric plant’s contribution to regional electrical integration but also by the support that Itaipu provides in processes and services related to sustainability. I was particularly impressed by the relationships between Brazil and Paraguay and happy to see these two countries working together,” said Giorgia.

As a spokesperson for Mission Innovation (MI), she read a statement regarding Brazil’s inclusion in the Urban Transitions Mission (UTM). “With six Brazilian cities already part of the UTM, Brazil’s formal inclusion underscores the critical role of multilevel collaboration between cities, nations, and international partners in advancing sustainable energy transitions,” she reported.

According to the Director, Brazil’s entry into the UTM contributes to the pursuit of inclusive, resilient, and greenhouse gas emission-free urban futures. “As Brazil enhances its leadership in urban sustainability, its involvement will further align efforts with global goals on the path to COP30, strengthening the country’s commitment to the targets of the Paris Agreement,” concluded Giorgia.

Founded in 2015 alongside the Paris Agreement, Mission Innovation (MI) serves as an intergovernmental platform to promote innovation in clean energy through cooperation among governments, the public and private sectors, investors, and academia. It brings together 22 countries, including Brazil, and the European Union.
